This two-day workshop is a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics of tapestry weaving from Grand Marais artist, Emily Wick. Emily is a self-taught weaver who's work at North Woven Goods draws inspiration from the Boreal forests and wild North Shore of Lake Superior. Emily and Dorothy (Dappled Fern owner) will collaborate to create an inspiring and supportive space for you to try out a new craft and connect with other creative folks in the area!

Topics covered will include:

Basics of weaving
Loom/tools
Warping the loom
Tabby weave
Adding texture
Simple color transition
Finishing with a hem stitch
Cleaning up the back
Mounting on a dowel

Tools and materials provided:

10-inch tapestry loom
Weaving needle
Weaving shuttles
Warp string
Instruction materials

Materials not provided:
3 skeins of worsted or bulky weight yarn in different colors.
You may purchases at Dappled Fern or bring your own.

You will leave the class with a 10" weaving of your own creation (started and possibly completed, depending on your pace), a wealth of knowledge, a sense of empowerment, and all the tools you need to continue your weaving journey!
