Intro to Tapestry Weaving
October 21 and 22, 2023
Saturday 1pm - 5pm and Sunday 9am - 1pm
12 spaces
Emily is back! This two-day workshop is a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics of tapestry weaving from Grand Marais artist, Emily Wick over MEA weekend this October.
Emily is a self-taught weaver whose work at North Woven Goods draws inspiration from the Boreal forests and wild North Shore of Lake Superior. Emily and Dorothy (Dappled Fern owner) will collaborate to create an inspiring and supportive space for you to try out a new craft and connect with other creative folks in the area!
You will choose from patterns provided to make a a tapestry similar to the one pictured above in the colors of your choice. You will leave the class with a 10" weaving of your own creation (started and possibly completed, depending on your pace), a wealth of knowledge, a sense of empowerment, and all the tools you need to continue your weaving journey!
If you are not from Minnesota, let me just explain that MEA Weekend is a whole thing here. It's basically a sacred 4-day holiday weekend when folks head north for one last hurrah before the snow flies. Come hang with us!
