Learn to knit a squishy Artists Point Cowl in this beginner-level class taught by Dorothy Broomall, owner of local Dappled Fern yarn shop. Dorothy will teach you basic skills like how to read a knitting pattern, prepare your yarn, knit stitch, purl stitch, cast on, cast off, how to fix mistakes, and wash/block finish. We’ll use a bulky, super soft 100% merino yarn hand-dyed by regional dyers and inspired by North House! We’ll take a field trip to knit at Dappled Fern one afternoon for a fun change of scenery and you’ll have plenty of time to work on your project and get support from the instructor as you knit up your cowl. Great for beginners or those wanting to brush up on basic knitting skills!
All students will receive:
- 1 skein of bulky We Love Grand Marais Yarn in the North House colorway
- 1 set of needles
- Artists Point Cowl pattern
- Project bag
- Tapestry Needle
- Measuring Tape
- Soak wool wash
About the yarn:
We Love Grand Marais Yarn was created exclusively for Dappled Fern by regional yarn dyer Stitch Stuff. We worked with beloved local businesses and organizations to develop colorways inspired by their wonderful places. This class uses the colorway inspired by North House Folk School!
